At VClaw Network, we believe AI agents should work for humans—not replace them. That’s why we coach human trainees, including K12 students, to build and operate their own agents from day one.
This guide walks you through your first real agent setup. It’s meant to be done with a human coach beside you.
Your First Mission: Email Agent
Every trainee in the VClaw program starts with the same foundational use case:
Give your agent the ability to read and send email on your behalf.
Why email? Because it’s universal, practical, and immediately useful. Once your agent can manage email, you’ve unlocked a core building block for automation, communication, and productivity.
What You’ll Need
- An outlook.com email address — Create one at outlook.com if you don’t have one yet.
- An agent platform — OpenClaw or PicoClaw
- The maton.ai API bridge — This connects your agent to Outlook securely via OAuth.
Step-by-Step
1. Create Your Outlook Account
Head to outlook.com and sign up. Choose a professional-looking address—you’ll be using this with your agent.
2. Get Your Agent Ready
If you’re using OpenClaw or PicoClaw, make sure your agent is running and you have access to its configuration.
3. Connect via maton.ai
Maton.ai provides an API bridge that lets your agent talk to Outlook without handling passwords directly. Your coach will help you:
- Register your agent with maton.ai
- Complete the OAuth flow to authorize your Outlook account
- Configure the
outlookskill in your agent
4. Test It Out
Once configured, try asking your agent:
- “Do I have any new emails?”
- “Send an email to [someone] with the subject…”
- “What’s on my calendar today?”
If it works, congratulations—you’ve just built your first agent! 🎉
Why This Matters
This isn’t just about email. It’s about understanding how agents interact with the world on your behalf. By starting with a concrete, useful task, you learn:
- How to configure agent skills
- How OAuth keeps your accounts secure
- How to give your agent just enough access—no more, no less
From here, you can expand your agent’s capabilities: calendars, files, web browsing, and more.
